Last Sunday saw our lads take on St Farnan's in the second round of the intermediate championship. We played reasonably well, however sloppy mistakes ultimately cost us and we finished on the wrong side on the 0-11 to 1-7 scoreline. There are three games left in the group stages, and we must win all three to advance from the group.

In the meantime, we have a very important league game next Saturday against Curry, throw in at Quigabar is at 7.30pm.  17/06/12

The next game for the side is the second round of the championship, where we will meet St Farnan's. he intermediate team fell to a disappointing defeat last Saturday evening, losing to St Michael's by four points, 1-12 to 1-8 the final score. The intermediate football championship got underway last weekend, and our men were in action against neighbours Castleconnor in Easkey in an all west division affair. We have not met each other for a considerable number of years in the championship, however in the last three games we have played against each other in the league and Benson Cup, we have managed to win two.

Having defeated Castleconnor four weeks ago in the league, we had a number of players back since then, including Declan Cawley and Bryan Jacob. Electing to play with the breeze, we settled well and went into a three points to one lead after fifteen minutes, Shane Hargadon and Brian Coleman on target early on. Declan Cawley also got his first championship point of the year in the opening period. However, Castleconnor were coping well and once they got their first goal after 18 minutes, they found their stride, and tagged on 1-4 before the interval, including a soft goal, to give them a 2-6 to 0-4 lead at the break.

In what was a very poor second half from both sides, Castleconnor added five points to their tally, while we could only manage a solitary point from a Shane Hargadon free. Despite this, we created three excellent goal opportunites, but two of these were scrambled off the line by a resolute Castleconnor rearguard. This was the only considerable action of the second half, and the when Malachy Maher blew the final whistle the scoreline read Enniscrone/Kilglass 0-5 Castleconnor 2-11. It was a very disappointing display and result, but the team now have three weeks to prepare for a crunch tie against St Farnans in the second round on the 16th of June, which will more than likely be played in Easkey once more.

Enniscrone/Kilglass: K Mullaney, MJ Crean, K Caffrey, S Cawley, C Kavanagh, JP Carden, A Morrison,  B Byron, M Gordon, A Hargadon, E Gilroy, M Connolly, D Cawley(0-1), S Hargadon(0-3), B Coleman(0-1). Subs: C Mullaney, B Jacob, H Egan.       03/06/12

Last weekend marked the start of the intermediate championship, and it was a game to forget for our men as they were defeated by local rivals Castleconnor on a scoreline of 2-11 to 0-5. However, there are three weeks to prepare for the next round against St Farnans. In the meantime, there is a very important league game away to St Michaels to negotiate this week, throw in is at 7 30 pm on Saturday evening .    27/05/12

Our intermediate team will begin their championship campaign this coming Sunday, May 27th, when they meet local rivals Castleconnor at Easkey. Throw in is at 6pm, and we ask anybody who can support the lads to do so, as they look to get off to a winning start. Best of luck to the players and management.   20/05/12

The team were heavily defeated by Drumcliffe/Rosses Point on Sunday  May 13th in Oxfield, eventually losing out on a scoreline of 2-16 to 1-3. It was a bitterly disappointing performance, but the team now turn their attention to a big game in two weeks time when they begin their championship campaign against Castleconnor.   13/05/12

There was no action for our lads last weekend due to the Sligo Senior footballer’s first round match against New York in the Connacht Championship. The lads will travel to Oxfield on Sunday, May 13th, to take on Drumcliffe/Rosses Point, throw in at 2.30pm, and all support is welcome.      06/05/12

The intermediate team secured their third win in a row, with a brilliant six point win over local rivals Castleconnor in Quigabar on Saturday evening 28th April. It was a tremendous performance from the lads, with goals from Mark Gordon and Eamon Gilroy either side of half time paving the way for a deserved victory. There is no action next week for the team next week as Sligo get their Connacht Championship campaign underway, the next round of club games sees us away to Drumcliffe/Rosses Point on May 12th.     29/04/12

Our intermediate team had a terrific win over Calry/St Joseph's on Sunday, April 22nd, running out four point winners on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-10. This is the team’s second successive win, and it is just rewards for the panel and managements hard work recently. This Saturday, April 28th, sees Castleconnor visit Quigabar, in what is a big game for both teams. Throw in is at 7pm on Saturday evening, and everyone is encouraged to come out and support the team for this local derby match.  22/04/12

The intermediate team picked up the first win of their league campaign with a 2-9 to 1-7 victory over Cloonacool on Sunday. They will look to build on this win when they travel to Hazelwood to take on Calry/St Josephs this Sunday, throw in is at 2.30 pm.     15/04/12

There was no league action on the club scene last weekend. Our next game is against at home to Cloonacool next Sunday, April 15th, with throw in at 2 30 pm. This is a vitally important game for the team and we encourage everyone to come out and support the team.    08/04/12

Our boys fell to a third straight defeat in division 2 of the league last weekend, losing to Coolaney/Mulinabreena on a scoreline of 4-10 to 3-9. There is a break in action for the Easter weekend, with the next game scheduled for 13th/14th of April, at home to Cloonacool. This is a vital game for the team as they search for their first win of the campaign. Training continues on Friday night at 7 45 pm.

Our men have played 2 games in their division 2 league campaign thus far, losing both, to Eastern Harps and Coolera/Strandhill. Despite this, hopes remain high that the team can improve and register some wins to improve their league position.

On Friday 23rd of March, the draws for the Kennedys intermediate championship took place in Sligo. We have been drawn alongside Curry, Eastern Harps, and local rivals Easkey, St Farnans and Castleconnor. It promises to be a very exciting championship, with all four west Sligo clubs drawn together in Group one. The top team in each group will automatically qualify for the semi finals, while the 2nd and 3rd placed teams will progress to the quarter final stage. It is set up nicely to be an interesting summer in local GAA circles, and first up for us is Castleconnor, with a date and time yet to be confirmed.

Ciaran O'Dowd pulled a point back before they went five points in front. The team went twelve minutes without scoring before Ciaran O'Dowd produced another great point, followed by two points from Rian Grimes, a point from Robert Grimes and a goal from Brandan Fitzgerald to put them in a lead at the break by two points. Michael John produced two great scores shortly after coming on, a point followed by a goal. Robert Grimes fired home another one of his great goals with six minutes to go. Bunninadden, in fairness to them never gave up and brought the game to a one point deficit heading into injury time before Mark Caffrey sealed the win with a great goal after a well won ball by Michael John McKenna and passed out to Mark to put it in the back of the net. Outstanding for the team was Jason Tuffy in goals who produced some great saves. Both Aaron Duffy and Stephen Tuffy had great game and played major roles in the backs. Bradley Nealon was superb in defence after a tactical change made early on in the game. Niall Carden and Eoghan Bourke played their part in keeping out an attacking Bunninadden team. Mark Caffrey and Robert Grimes were outstanding in midfield. Ciaran O'Dowd played his part in the half forward line aided by Paul McManus and Brandan Fitzgerald either side of him. Josh Ellis in the full forward line had a great game ably aided by Rian Grimes on his right. Michael John McKenna and Eoin Hallinan both played mighty well when they came on as subs.
