CLUB NOTES 2019

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes 6th May 2019
Intermediate
Our Intermediate footballers were beaten by Owenmore Gaels in Collooney on Bank Holiday Monday on a scoreline of 4-7 to 1-8 in Division Two. This was a poor performance and the hosts ended as deserving winners. Our lads have a three week break from competitive action ahead of a crucial match at home to Bunninadden at the end of May, during which time they will endeavor to improve on their recent form.
U-21
History was created on Friday night last at the U-21 footballers of Enniscrone-Kilglass/Easkey claimed the Sligo U-21 A football title with a six-point defeat of Eastern Harps, 1-15 to 0-12, at Cloonacool. Level at half-time, 0-6 apiece, our lads pushed on after the interval to end as winners, though the result was in doubt up until the final moments. This is a sweet success given the near-misses in recent years at U-21 level. Congratulations to the players and management. Enniscrone-Kilglass/Easkey: Shane Kilgannon; Niall Kilcullen, Josh Ellis, Eoghan Rua McGowan; Eoin Hallinan (0-1), Dylan Sloyan (0-1), Eanna Moylan; Mikey Gordon (0-2), Rory McHugh; Rian Grimes, Ciaran O'Dowd, Fionn Moylan (0-1); Andrew Kilcullen (0-3, 2fs), Joe McHugh (1-1), Gavin Duffy (0-6, 1 45'). Subs used: Aaron Duffy, Brandon Fitzgerald. Other panel members: Adam Mullaney, Dara Rouse, Conal Duffy, Finn Nelson, Eoghan Bourke, Daniel Rolston. Management: Con O'Meara, Dessie Sloyan, Vincent Cuffe.

U-16
Our U-16s lost out to Owenmore Gaels in their most recent league match on Monday last, 6-10 to 1-3. They have one outstanding group match away to Coolera/Strandhill on May 13th where a win will put them into the cup knockout stages.
U-14
Our U-14s had a busy weekend! On Saturday, they held a hugely successful car wash fundraiser ahead of this year’s Feile competition which raised in excess of €900. Thank you to everyone who supported this event, as well as the players and management and to the Ocean Sands Hotel for post-car wash food. On Sunday, focus returned to matters on the field where the lads enjoyed a comprehensive 8-13 to 0-5 win over Calry/St Joseph’s in Hazelwood. This Thursday, they take on St Patrick’s in Dromard at 7pm.
U-12
Our U-12s lost out to Calry/St Joseph’s last Tuesday, 0-14 to 0-11. Their next assignment is a home fixture against Coolaney/Mullinabreena on May 14th.
Eugene McGee RIP
The wider GAA community was saddened over the Bank Holiday weekend to learn of the passing of former Offaly football manager Eugene McGee. Our club had a unique connection with that famous Offaly side managed by the late Mr McGee, as he and the team visited to play Sligo on the occasion of our new pitch opening at Quigabar in 1983. Club members of the time will recall with fondness the generosity of Mr McGee in facilitating their trip to west Sligo. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes 28th April 2019

The club provided a guard of honour after last Thursday’s funeral mass, and last week’s U-12 match was also postponed as a mark of respect. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Murphy and Tuffy families at this difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
